TOMMY JANNETT

Tommy Jannett, longtime resident of San Marcos, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2023.

He was born in Burleson County, Texas, on July 3, 1934, to Alvina Klagmann and Oscar Louis Jannett.

Tommy was raised on the family farm. He contracted polio at an early age, but that did not keep him from living a long, fulfilling life.

He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1952, then graduated from Blinn Junior College in 1954.

After graduation, he started his career at Texas A&M College-College Station, where he worked in data processing for 9 years. He worked at Texas Tech University before coming to Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1964.

He retired with 32 years of dedication and service from Southwest Texas State University as Computing Service’s Supervisor of Operations in 1996.

He married Marian Kluge on October 25, 1958, at Harmony Baptist Church in Burleson County, Texas. Marian and Tommy loved traveling together, researching genealogy and spending time with family.

Tommy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church San Marcos, Texas, where he volunteered in numerous capacities.

For over 50 years, he spent summers camping at Camp Ben McCulloch.

He loved attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren, as well as cheering on all the local teams.

He was preceded in death by parents, Alvina and Oscar Jannett; brothers, Louis “Mickey” Etzel and Ernest “Pete” Jannett; sister, Helen “Tootsie” Thompson; brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Jaska and Alfred “Al” Desmet.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marian Jannett; daughters, Debra Lattie (Rickey), Judy Jannett, Sharon Wilsford, Sandra Sacre (Tony); sisters, Emma Desmet of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, and Lorraine “Sissy” Jaska of San Marcos, Texas; sister- in-law, Molly Jannett of Huntsville, Texas; grandchildren, Jordyn Lattie (Matt), Ian Lattie, Jennifer Jannett, Lindsay Wilsford, Lauren Garcia (Gilbert), Tyler Sacre, Megan Sacre; great-grandchildren, Forrest Galpin, Oliver Sacre and Luna Green.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Pennington Funeral Home.

Graveside service followed by a Memorial Service was held at Pennington Funeral Home on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
