KAREN BECKMANN PRIHODA TEAL

Karen Teal, 66, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 4, 2023, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

She was born Karen Beckmann on December 25, 1956, in Bellville, Texas.

Karen’s journey on this earth was filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and her career.

She married Marshall Teal, with whom she shared a profound bond on September 20, 2008.

Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love and happiness. They enjoyed going camping, planting gardens together, and finding solace in nature’s embrace. Karen had a deep love for her family. Her proudest accomplishments centered around her son, Bradley. They shared an incredibly special bond through their shared passion for showing cattle. From the very beginning of Bradley’s journey into this world, Karen was his steadfast guide and cheerleader. Her heart swelled with joy during these moments shared with Bradley.

Additionally, Karen found immeasurable happiness during her son’s wedding and the birth of her twin grandchildren, Brody and Mabry Prihoda. The arrival of these precious little ones brought immense joy to Karen’s life as she doted on them with unconditional love.

Family meant everything to Karen. She was a beacon of light in the lives of those she touched. She had a kind heart that brought comfort to all who knew her.

Karen dedicated 31 years of her life to the Texas A&M Soil and Crop Science Department. From the Rio Grande Valley to the High Plains, she tirelessly pursued her passion for agriculture and made countless contributions to the field. Her commitment and expertise were truly admirable.

She will be deeply missed but her memories will forever remain etched in our hearts.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Beckmann and Faye Briggs; and brother, Neil Beckmann.

Karen is survived by Marshall Teal (husband); Bradley Prihoda (son); Morgan Prihoda (daughter-in-law); Brody Prihoda (grandson); Mabry Prihoda (granddaughter); Sharon Caldwell (sister); Roger Caldwell (brother-in-law); Tresia Beckman (sister-in-law); Heather Caldwell (niece); Cody Caldwell (nephew); Stacy Wise (niece); Laura Forrester (niece); and James Prihoda (special friend); along with other great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Robert Rubach, Edward “Chooch” Macik, Doug Dean, Cody Caldwell, Mark Wise, and Matt Forrester.

Karen’s memory was cherished by her family and friends during her visitation on August 8, 2023, at the Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas. It was a time to honor and remember the beautiful soul that Karen was, starting at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m.

Afuneral service was held on August 9, 2023, at the Snook Brethren Church in Snook, Texas. Friends and loved ones were invited to pay their final respects to Karen starting from 9:00 a.m., with the service commencing at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requested donations to be made to the Snook Cemetery.
