Robert Floyd “Bobby” Smith, 86, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.
A public visitation was held in his honor from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023.
Graveside services were held Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell, Texas 77836 at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Kevin McMachen officiated.
Robert was born June 22, 1937, the son of the late Cecil Smith and Annie (Blazek) Smith.
He was raised in Caldwell, Texas and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1955.
He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Texas A&M College in 1959.
While at A&M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and a member of the Ross Volunteers. Upon graduation from A&M, he was commissioned an officer in the Field Artillery of the U.S. Army.
Robert worked for Shell Chemical Company, Petro-Tex Chemical Company, and Gulf Oil Chemical Company which later became Chevron Chemical Company.
He retired from Chevron in 1998 and moved back to Caldwell, Texas, where he became a rancher.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell, and a member of the Warren Masonic Lodge No. 56 in Caldwell, Texas.
Robert was preceded in death by sister and brotherin- law, Gwendolyn and Jimmy Gray,; brother-in-law, Hubert Willis; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Mary Smith; and grandson, Joshua James Dickey.
He is survived by his loving companion, Rosalie Stefka and her family; sister, Patsy Willis; daughters, Sherry Dickey and Laurie Smith; grandsons, Jeremy Smith Dickey, Devin Nelson, and Melton Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Brady Russ and Addilyn James Dickey.
