ALSTERN “AL” RIECK JR.

Alstern “Al” Rieck Jr. of Caldwell, Texas, was surrounded by family as he passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2023. He was 66 years old.

A public visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, followed by a Memorial Service in his honor at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home located at 404 W. Buck St. in Caldwell.

Al was born on July 12, 1957 in Baytown, Texas, the son of Alstern Sr. and Blanche Rieck.

He grew up in the Wooster area of Baytown along with his brothers, Mark and Larry.

He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1975 and later attended Lee College.

Al met the love of his life, Cindy Brymer, while working at Kovar’s TV shop. Al and Cindy married on June 5, 1976, and were happily married 47 years. They have one son, Taylor Rieck.

Al worked a few years at Ashland Chemical and then for the Shell Oil Refinery in Deer Park where he retired after 39 years of service. After retiring, Al and Cindy moved to Caldwell.

Al loved all people he came in contact with. He demonstrated in his life qualities of kindness, selflessness, humility, thoughtfulness, honesty and goodness.

He loved his wife, Cindy, with all his heart and was fully devoted to her. He loved his son and daughter-in-law, Taylor and Kayci, and his grandson, Hayden. Hayden lovingly called him “Peeps” or “Brother Peeps.”

He loved spending every minute he could with his family and was so good to everyone. Al loved going on road trips, taking vacations, camping, fishing, and just anything as long as he was with family. And he loved watching the Astros and going to ball games of any kind.

To describe Al’s life in one word, it would have to be “servant.” Al was a Christian and lived every day of his life striving to do his best to serve God and to serve others. He was always looking for ways to help people. Al never wanted to be in the spotlight or to receive any credit for the good that he did. He moved quietly and humbly, he just wanted to help others in any way he could. Al was always the one you could call on if you needed help, and he would always be there happily and with the best of attitudes. He was truly a great example to all who knew him.

Al was a faithful member of the Cameron Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. He also volunteered for the local food bank and served in the Lion’s Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alstern Sr. and Blanche Rieck.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son and daughter-in-law, Taylor and Kayci Rieck; grandson, Hayden; brother, Mark; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Rieck; and many nieces and nephews. His dearest friends were also his brothers and sisters-in-law, Robbie and Carla Holt and Scott and Sherri Brymer.
