A funeral service for Frances Lucille Sowell, of Somerville, Texas, was held at 10:00 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2023, at the Strickland Funeral Home, located at 545 8th St. in Somerville, Texas.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1937, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to Merton and Grace Pipkin.
She lived in Memphis, Tennessee, until 1978 and moved to Houston, Texas.
Frances was a vibrant and spirited individual who loved life to the fullest.
She had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
She had a passion for crappie fishing and gardening.
Frances’s nurturing spirit extended even further as she delighted in feeding the neighborhood deer, forging a special connection with these gentle creatures.
Family meant everything to Frances, and she cherished the bond she shared with her loved ones.
She died on Nov. 9, 2023, in Bryan, Texas.
She is survived by her dear friend who became family; three children; one godson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
