Alfred Henicke, 79, of George West, Texas, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Caldwell, Texas, where he had resided the past 20 years.
Alfred was born February 8, 1944, in George West, to Ben Henicke Sr. and Minnie (Kleiber) Henicke.
He was a 1962 graduate of George West High School and in 1963, he shared his talent as a barber in the Corpus Christi area.
He began his career in the agricultural and farming industry in 1964 and that same year on July 11, he married the love of his life, Roselea Tabor, in Corpus Christi.
In 1981, he was recognized as Farmer of the Year and retired from farming in 2010.
He was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church in George West.
He loved gardening and enjoyed selling his vegetables at the farmers market, spending time with his family and a good game of 42.
He met Patricia Holcomb in 1996 whom became a special part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Ben Henicke Sr.; wife, Roselea Henicke; siblings, Ben Henicke, Walter Henicke, Johnny Henicke, Raymond Henicke, Frank Henicke, Dorothy Williams, Elizabeth Henicke and Louise Skaggs; granddaughter, Claire Henicke; and great-grandson, Carson Cox.
Survivors include his best friend, Patricia Holcomb; children, Cheryl (Shannon) Tucker, Wesley (Heather) Henicke, and Duane Henicke; grandchildren, Amber (Dorman) Koerner, Sesley Hilliard, Madison (Matthew) Mancias, and Mollee Henicke; great-grandchildren, HaydenandMakaylaCox, Clayton Koerner, Addison Hilliard, and Marlowe Mancias; siblings, Willie (Orlean) Henicke, Charles (Ann) Henicke, Gus (Marie) Henicke, and Helen Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at St. George Catholic Cemetery with Deacon Michael Noble officiating.
Pallbearers were Wesley Wolfe, Landry Maguglin, Nathan Williams, Chris Henicke, Glenn Henicke, Ray Henicke, AndyHenicke,andDonald Henicke.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Hayden Cox and Clayton Koerner.
