Jeffery Blake Discher Jr., 37, beloved husband, father, son and friend met Jesus face to face on January 13, 2025.
Blake was born on March 2, 1987, in Brenham, to Patricia Vela and Jeffrey Discher, Sr.
He was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School in 2005 where he enjoyed playing baseball and football.
He moved to Marietta, Georgia, in 2005 where he began his life’s career in the Fire Protection Industry. He was a member of Union 669 until his return to Texas in 2007. His fire career allowed him to work for Western States, Century Fire, Total Safety, S.A.F.E. and Impact.
Blake decided to take the opportunity to work overseas for one year which allowed him to get on an airplane for the first time. He was able to work in Kenya, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, London, Switzerland and Sweden.
This overseas experience ignited his new found love for travel, learning about different cultures and wanting his children to experience the same.
Blake’s entrepreneurial dreams were realized when he and Ashlee began several business adventures together, always working shoulder to shoulder. Ultimately, they focused their talents and hard work into their business, Frontier Fire Services in 2020.
Blake and Ashlee met through a mutual friend, Robert McCorkle in July of 2008. They were both just 21.
They soon married in April of 2009 and welcomed Landon Ryan later that year. Their family continued to grow with the birth of Isabella Grace “Bella” in September of 2011.
Blake and his family lived in Tomball, Texas, from 2009-2023.
When Blake grew tired of living in the rat race of the suburbs and wanted his children to realize the benefits of a slower pace of life that he enjoyed while growing up, he moved his family to Caldwell to be closer to his family, continue running their company and embrace farm life. Blake taught Ashlee everything he knew about living on 5 acres, managing their small herd of cattle, cutting hay, relaxing and enjoying beautiful sunsets from their back porch.
They continued to work hard to grow Frontier Fire Services into a thriving business that afforded Blake and Ashlee to travel as a couple and also as a family.
While on a family vacation, Desmond, Blake’s brother-in-law finally convinced Blake to go on his first cruise, something that Blake Discher said he would never do.
In Feb. 2023, Blake took his family on their first cruise and the entire family became hooked. Blake and Ashlee even met another couple on this same cruise and they have since become dear friends.
An example of a life lesson that Blake was teaching his children and continuing to learn for himself, “Never say no to trying new things in life,” which included meeting strangers who would become friends, going on a cruise and tackling unknown challenges.
Blake enjoyed a lot of family time throughout the last two years, which included more cruises, river trips with friends and lake house vacations with his in-laws, where he taught Landon how to fish.
Blake and Ashlee realized some of their dreams coming true whether they were on a cruise ship alone, a spontaneous weekend getaway or on the dirt roads surrounding their farm on the side by side.
Today, each of these pallbearers represent different seasons of Blake’s life but more importantly, they represent one of Blake’s best qualities: his ability to have deep and lasting friendships. These men were fortunate enough to experience a friend for life in Blake.
Bella and Landon have both heard their Daddy tell them their entire lives, “I love you” and “I am proud of you.”
Blake was teaching Landon his love for hunting, fishing and most recently, Blake was teaching Landon how to drive a truck.
Bella knows that she is beautiful because she heard her Daddy say that to her all the time.
Blake was a fierce protector of his family and a wonderful provider. Blake was fun loving, loved to play games, count cards and when he knew he was losing the game, he would shift his focus to defensive playing so certain people would also loose. Blake would certainly give you the shirt off his back and was always generous in the moment. His exterior was tough but if he chose to let you into his inner circle, he would spend hours having deep conversations .
Blake is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Ashlee. His children, Landon (15) and Bella (13), along with his parents, Patricia Vela and Jeffrey Discher, Sr.
