Myrtle Matejka Marek, 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 25, 1934, to her parents, Henry and Oldriska (Hejl) Matejka.
She was the first of two children, having one sister, Oldriska Reigel.
As an infant, Myrtle was baptized at Snook Brethren Church by Rev. H.E. Beseda Sr. She was also confirmed in 1948 at the same church.
Myrtle attended Snook ISD and graduated in 1950 at the age of 16.
Myrtle married Emil Marek on July 5, 1952, and was married in Caldwell, at the Caldwell Brethren Church parsonage by H.E. Beseda Sr. while Emil was on leave and still serving his country.
God blessed their union of 63 years with three sons, Dale, Kenneth and Randy.
Myrtle worked at Bennie Sebesta Tax Service in Snook for over 20 years while also being a housewife who loved cooking, gardening, caring for her cats and checking on the cows.
She enjoyed listening to country music, Reba being her favorite, along with Polka music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Kovar and Emilie Keith; and granddaughter, Mandy Vajdak.
Myrtle is survived by sons, Dale (Cathy) Marek, Kenneth (Margarita) Marek, and Randy Marek all of Caldwell; sister, Oldriska Reigel; sisterin- law, Maxine Marek of Caldwell; granddaughter, Brandy (Craig) Kovar of Snook; stepgranddaughter, TJ (Isaac) Herrera of College Station; two step grandsons, Carlos (Maria) Juanes of Bryan, and Johnny Alvarado of College Station; niece, Sandy (David) Wyman of Maine; Bradley Vajdak, twins Macy and Eli Vajdak; along with numerous other relatives and church family and friends.
