Larry Wayne Derkowski

Larry Wayne Derkowski, of Snook went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the age of 69. He was surrounded by his wife and children.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend was born on August 9, 1956, in Orange, California.

He and his family moved to Bryan, where he grew up.

Larry was known for his loving and kindhearted nature. He was always ready to lend a hand.

He loved fishing on the Brazos River during his younger days, he took pride in taking family vacations to Casinos, Disneyland and other adventurous places.

Larry enjoyed playing softball with his friends and his brothers.

He enjoyed going deer hunting with his family and friends and had a deep appreciation for classic country music.

He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s baseball and softball games.

Larry was known to cut up and tell stories to his children, some weren’t true but were made to be very believable, like being in the Marines, special forces and going to school with Dolly Parton in California.

If you knew Larry, you knew he always had a dip of snuff in and drinking a cold Miller Lite. His nickname was “Snuffy” and fit him very well.

In 1980, Larry married the love of his life, Beverly. They had five wonderful children and created a beautiful life together. Larry received his master’s plumbers license and worked at Drew Woods and finished out his years at ATO chemical plant until his retirement.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Joe Derkowski; his brother, Joey Derkowski; grandson, Weston Lammons; son-inlaw, Jerry McDowell; as well as his grandparents, uncles and aunts.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by those who knew him.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly of 45 years; and his loving mother, Ann Derkowski. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bill Derkowski and his wife, Mary, David Derkowski and his wife, Mary; and his sister, Toni McDowell.

Larry’s memory will live on through his sons, Lew Derkowski, Tony Derkowski, and Justin Derkowski; and his daughters, Jennifer Lammons and husband, Michael, and Stephanie Derkowski; and his grandchildren, Michael, Lance, Payton Lammons, Jocelyn and Joceph Rosas and Mason Derkowski.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Anita Derkowski, Linda Baumann and husband, Jack; son-in-law, Terry Junek and wife, Patt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Serving as pallbearers were Honorable Don Schulz, Honorable Jerry Nucker, Jerry Fagan, Clay Grenwelge, Donald Bienski and Gary Schulz.

The visitation for Larry was held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.

The funeral service was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan on Saturday January 10, 2026.

The burial followed at the Snook cemetery.
