EUNICE DOTSON

Eunice Dotson, 101, of Caldwell, passed peacefully into her saviors’ arms on January 11, 2026.

Eunice was born in Burleson County, Cooks Point.

She attended local school until working for the family farm became her passion to help her family.

Eunice came from a large loving family. She was one of seven children born to Joe and Jannie Kubena, who had a large agriculture business in the area, in which also her family built many homes in the Burleson County region.

Eunice took great pride in her family and vowed to her mother to care for her brother Jodie for the rest of his life, due to him being born with physical challenges. Eunice honored her vow to her mother up until her brother’s last breath.

It was at a local dance in Cooks Point, that Eunice met Louis Dotson during a brief time off from his army deployment and later returned to marry in 1945.

Together they had three loving children in which Eunice took great joy in raising.

Eunice and her family attended the Church of Christ in Caldwell, where she remained a lifelong member up until her final days. Eunice enjoyed attending church, you could find her attending every Sunday, sick or not.

Eunice had many jobs in Caldwell, some of which were in local businesses and shops.

Eunice was known for her famous baked pies, and she made some of the best kolaches in the area, in which she had many customers and made many connections from her baking. She won grand champion at the Burleson County Kolache Festival and received many ribbons for her baking in other contests.

She will be remembered by many generations in the Burleson County area and loved by all who knew her.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jannie Kubena; her loving husband, Louis Dotson; daughter, Bettye Fritcher; son, Joey Dotson.

Left to carry on her legacy are, her son, Johnny, and wife, Cynthia Dotson, of Caldwell; grandchildren, Brandie LeCheminant, and husband, Micheal of Houston, Lindsay Johnson, and husband, Chase of Franklin, Tricia Scanlin, and husband, Frank, of Bryan; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-greatgrandchild whom she had the honor to hold and take a photo with on her last day; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed and loved dearly.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.

Eunice leaves behind a long life lived to the fullest, she leaves this to her family; “The rest of the story is left up to the family, love you all, Eunice.”
