Lucia Revilla Orozco, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home on April 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith and devotion to her family and community.
Lucia was born on Sept. 10, 1931, in Cameron, to her parents, Fernando and Juana Revilla.
She grew up grounded in strong family and values that remained a guiding force throughout her life.
She later married George M. Orozco, with whom she built a loving home and shared many cherished years with their family of four children: Carmen, Patricia, Pete and Angela.
Her life was centered around her family, and she found her greatest joy in caring for and supporting those she loved.
Lucia dedicated many years of service to Somerville ISD, where she worked as a cook. In her role, she cared for generations of students, offering not only nourishing meals but also warmth and kindness. Reminiscing some of the favorites of this era were the homemade rolls, fresh baked cookies and hand breaded chicken fried steak. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built before retiring.
She was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Somerville, a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society and a member of the Somerville Stampede Rodeo Committee.
Lucia gave generously of her time and energy. She worked tirelessly alongside fellow parishioners to raise funds for the construction of St. Ann’s Recreation Center and the present-day St. Ann’s Church.
Her commitment to hard work never seemed to exhaust her and stood as a powerful reflection of her deep faith and unwavering dedication.
After retirement, she joined and was a member of the Road Runner Quilt Club of Somerville.
In her free time, Lucia enjoyed sewing, crafting, cooking and quilting. Her first quilt entry to the Burleson County Fair won her Reserve Grand Champion.
These passions reflected her creativity and care for others, as she often shared the fruits of her work with family and friends.
But she will always be remembered for her delicious bingo enchiladas and chili and her homemade savory tamales.
Lucia was also in the founding organization of the Burleson County Cinco de Mayo celebration in the early 2000s.
Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. Lucia’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Lucia Revilla Orozco will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her son, Pete Orozco of Lyons; her daughter, Angela (David) Pedraza of Somerville; and her son-in-law, Joe (Margarita) Negrete of Houston. She is also survived by her brothers, Gilbert (Mary) Revilla and Joe Revilla of Caldwell; and her sisters, Anita Saucedo of El Paso, and her baby sister, Christina (Rito) Sanchez.
Lucia’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Michael (Bonnie) Negrete, Paul (Deanna) Negrete, Marcus Negrete, Madelyn Nicole (Osmin) Villatoro, Mandi (Sarah) Orozco, Megan (Tyler) Barnes, and Mitchell Orozco. She was blessed with 16 greatgrandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, opening her home to many, especially during the summer months.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49.5 years, George M. Orozco; daughters, Mary Carmen Orozco Negrete and Patricia Orozco Thomas; her parents, Fernando and Juana Revilla; brothers, Mike (Bertha) Revilla, Frank Revilla, and Tony Revilla; sisters, Trina Hernandez and Ester (Noe) Rodriguez; and sister-in-law, Lupe Revilla.
