J. LYNN CALVIN

Private family services for J. Lynn Calvin, 77, of Caldwell were held on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Providence Cemetery near Caldwell.

Mr. Calvin died on Monday, July 6, 2020.

J. Lynn Calvin was born on Oct. 28, 1942, in the Providence community near Caldwell to Homer and Lydia (Blazek) Calvin. He was the last of nine children.

J. Lynn attended Caldwell schools and then enlisted in the Army in 1963 at the age of 20. His military service lasted for nine years, the majority of which he spent in Germany.

He married Linda Meiller, and they lived together in Bryan for 20 years.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, J. Lynn began working at Producers Cooperative in Bryan, and he delivered feed to customers in the area for more than 20 years.

J. Lynn was a quiet, country boy who loved to hunt and fish.

He and his family enjoyed vacationing in Galveston.

After retiring, his favorite pastime was returning for weeks at a time to fish in the Galveston bay.

He also enjoyed building model planes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leroy Calvin, Stanley Calvin Sr., Joe Dan Calvin, Homer Ray Calvin, and an infant brother, Homer Andrew Calvin; his sisters, Mae Dell Billet, Elizabeth Miller, and Joyce Hitchcock; his sisters-in-law, Alice Calvin, Estelline Calvin, Johnnie Calvin, and Lois Calvin; and his brothers-in-law, Harold Billet, Joe Miller, and Philip (Bobby) Hitchcock.

J. Lynn is survived by his daughter, Gwen Rangel and husband, Ruben; his granddaughter, Monique Rangel; his grandson, Jason Rangel and wife, Brittany, all of Caldwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
