Edward Emil Odstrcil

Funeral services for Edward Emil Odstrcil, 93, of Caldwell were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2020, at Cooks Point Brethren Church, with Bro. Joseph Polasek and Bro. Dillon Albright officiating.

Interment followed at the Odstrcil Family Cemetery in Cooks Point.

Visitation was held from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Edward was born November 14, 1927, to Ignac Odstrcil and Julia (Polasek) Odstrcil in Cooks Point, Texas.

He married Milady Juroska October 2, 1955, in Dime Box, Texas.

At an early age, Edward developed a lifelong love for steam engine trains. He would watch them for hours go down the tracks near his childhood home and even developed an amazing talent for drawing them.

His hobbies were polka music, dominoes (especially 42), family cookouts, barbecues, fish fries, Kolache Festival, and other festivals in the surrounding area. Also, traveling and vacations with family.

He would work on his tractor and repair vintage radios in his spare time. He was a member of the was a Cooks Point Brethren Church, an Elder, VFD, and the SPJST New Tabor Hall #17.

Edward would always look forward to the “Odstrcil Therapy” sessions in the evening, (these would involve driving around on Polaris Rangers in family groups, rehashing the days events, enjoying the scenery and wildlife, and perhaps having an adult beverage occasionally.

Edward graduated from Cooks Point School, then went to work on the farm with his Dad.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, John and Vincka Juroska; and one grandson-in-law, Douglas Angiel.

He is survived by his wife, Milady (Juroska) Odstrcil of Cooks Point; Edward Odstrcil and wife, Jackie, of Cooks Point, Larry Odstrcil of Cooks Point; his daughters, Deborah Odstrcil Dickerson and husband, Bill, of Cooks Point, and Lydia Odstrcil of Cooks Point; his grandchildren, Brandon Odstrcil and wife, Renita, Tammy Chandarlis and husband, Frank, Jr., James Petroski and wife, Whitney, Patrick Dickerson and wife, Catherine, Jordan Angiel, and Zachary Dickerson; his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Odstrcil, Burtis Morse and wife, Loren, Kinsler Chandarlis, Avery Chandarlis, Alexa Chandarlis, Audrey Dickerson, Austin Stuart, Lilly Petroski, Milady Petroski, Brooke Dickerson, Logan Dickerson, Rylie Dickerson, Ben Angiel, and Luke Angiel; two great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Brandon Odstrcil, James Petroski, Frank Chandarlis Jr., Sam Polasek, Scott Kelm, and Danny Kubena.

Acting as honorary pallbearers were Bennie Dean Loehr, Donnie Grigg, John Loehr, David Odstrcil, Adrian Carlson, Jimmy Matcek, Patrick Dickerson, Zachary Dickerson, Brad Albright, Frank Blazek, and Ernie Shick.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Cooks Point Brethren Church, Cooks Point VFD Department, and Encompass Hospice.
