Wanda Lee (Housman) Loehr went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021.
She was born on February 25, 1924, to Erma (Barlow) Housman and Vollie Housman in Ottawa County, Okla.
Wanda grew up in Miami, Okla., and was very proud of her Native American Indian Heritage. She was a lifelong member of the Ottawa Indian Tribe.
She attended the Ottawa 1-Room country school for eight years before graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1942. Over the years she enjoyed taking trips back to Oklahoma for her class reunions.
On October 14, 1946, she married the love of her life, Andrew Walter Loehr.
Soon after they purchased a farm and settled into their new lives together in Cooks Point, Texas. Farming and raising their two boys, Blifford and Danny, was their greatest priority.
She was a proud and very active member of Cooks Point United Methodist Church.
Wanda was an avid bird lover and enjoyed watching and learning about all birds. Her favorites were hummingbirds and red birds.
She had a passion for cooking, and nothing made her happier than preparing meals for her family.
As a hobby, she enjoyed reading and collecting cookbooks.
She had an amazing green thumb and will always be remembered for her beautiful rose bushes.
Wanda’s greatest joy was her family. She loved being a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Betty Brubaker; and her brothers, Jehu Housman and Gerald Housman.
Wanda is survived by her two sons, Blifford Loehr and wife, Terry, and Danny Loehr; her grandson, Justin Loehr and wife, Kristen; her granddaughter, Nickie Loehr; her grandson, Brandon Loehr and wife, Natalie; her grandson, Cody Loehr and wife, Alaina; her grandson, Kyle Loehr; her grandson, Seth Loehr and fiancée, Kindel; her grandson, Will Loehr and wife, Leah; her granddaughter, Dailee Loehr; 13 greatgrandchildren; her sister, Mary Draper and husband, Wayne; her sister-in-law, Hilda Weeber; her brother-in-law, Raymond Loehr; her brother-in-law, Joe Brubaker; and her sister-in-law, Kay Housman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many.
A private graveside service will be held by her immediate family.
The family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care, Copperas Hollow Nursing and Rehab, and Encompass Hospice for the comfort and care she received.
