JUAN MARTINEZ

A Mass of Christian Burial for Juan Martinez, 73, of Caldwell will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Melvin Dornak officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Martinez died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.

Juan was born on March 27, 1947, in Chriesman to Francisco Martinez and Micaela Martinez.

Juan was the youngest of 10 siblings.

He was a family man and always willing to lend a helping hand, family members said.

He enjoyed tending to his cattle and maintaining his hay field.

He worked 17 years for Precinct 3 of Burleson County and retired in 2014.

Juan could never sit still and always had to be doing something. So, if you didn’t find him in the field, he’d be in his garage maintaining his tractor or working on somebody’s car.

He was a jack-of-all-trades.

If you knew him, you could not forget him. There was never a dull moment with him or a frown on his face, family members said.

Most importantly, he was the uncle to so many nieces and nephews. He loved each and everyone of them, and they knew they could always stop by just to have a quick chat, hear some old stories or learn something new.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Martinez and Micaela Martinez; his brothers, Facundo Martinez and Valentin Martinez; and his sisters, Tomasa Martinez, Lupe Luna, and Romana Aguilar.

Juan is survived by his brothers, Jose Martinez and Ray Martinez; his sisters, Herminia Martinez, and Angela Silva; and his brother in-law, Ruben Silva.

Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Silva, Tomas Garza Jr., Moses Luna, Ramiro Martinez, Mario Aguilar, and Aldofo Martinez.
