Graveside services for Melba Marie Wuenscher Victor, 97, of Caldwell, were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.
Burial followed.
Visitation was held from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mrs. Victor died on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Burleson St. Joseph Hospital in Caldwell.
Melba was born on Nov. 22, 1923, in Lyons to Richard and Alma Rust Wuenscher.
She attended school in Lyons, and graduated from Caldwell High School. She graduated from Durham Business College in Austin.
After graduating, she worked for an abstract company in Austin until World War II.
Then she worked for a military office in Austin until she retired.
She met the love of her life while working at the military office and married Edward (Eddie) Victor on Sept. 15, 1945.
After retiring, she and Eddie moved to Caldwell and lived a long life.
Melba was a volunteer in many organizations. To list a few, they included the Hospital Auxiliary, the Caldwell Christians Care store, the VFW Auxiliary, and DAV.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Eddie) Victor; her parents, Richard and Alma Rust Wuenscher; and her sisters, Dorothy Koeppen of Houston, Doris Hoffman, and Mavis Perry of Caldwell.
Melba is survived by her sister, LaNette Boyd and husband, John, of Caldwell; her nieces, Pamela Hiller and husband, Les, of Caldwell, Lynda Ficklin, and Johnette Baker, of Chappell Hill; her nephews, James Koeppen of Montgomery, Texas, and George Read of Johnson City; and her husband’s nephew, Tommy Miller and wife, Jeannie, of Iowa, who came every year to help her do repairs around her place.
The family requests that memorials be made to Stillcreek Ranch in Bryan or to the Ruth Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Caldwell.
