REINHOLD GALLER

Visitation for Reinhold A. Galler, 99, of Caldwell, will be held with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Elizabeth Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Mr. Galler passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Reinhold was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Lilac, Texas, to Gustav and Hulda (Zander) Galler.

He was a S1/C (Seaman 1st Class) in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He served on the U.S.S. Pettit. He was proud of his military service.

His first trip out left from New York to the Strait of Gibraltar and took 28 days. He was deployed to many more places including Africa, France, England, and Ireland.

Reinhold married the love of his life, Irene, on March 21, 1946, and they spent 70 years together until her death in 2016.

He enjoyed watching Astros games, and he and Irene enjoyed attending games in person.

Reinhold enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes (42 was his favorite), going on vacations and trips to Las Vegas, stopping to visit relatives along the way.

He loved going to dances with friends.

Reinhold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers, Oscar, Richard, Otto, Leon, and Albert; and sisters, Elsie, Edna, and Lillie.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Terry Galler; daughter and son-inlaw, Rhonda and Roy Engelmann; grandchildren, Christopher and Brianna Galler, Jason Engelmann and Missy Houghton, Tanya and Joel Fitzgerald; greatgrandchildren, Bryan and Chase Galler, Trinity and Raegan Fitzgerald, and Taylor Houghton.
