Charles William Ray, 68, of Whitney, Texas, died on Saturday, June 26, 2021, with family by his side.
There is no service planned.
Charles was born on March 12, 1953, in Caldwell to Ernest M. Ray and Marie Ray.
Charles married Charlotte Vana on Aug. 16, 1973, and they had one son, Lonnie L. Ray.
Charles received his GED and then worked several years as a carpenter.
He then became a constable for Hill County in 1989, where he served for 12 years.
He was always available to help people who needed it.
Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting with sons and nephews, fishing, building furniture and painting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Ray and Marie Ray; his first wife, Charlotte; his brothers, Mervin J. Ray and wife, Stephanie, and Ernest Milton Ray; his sisters, Leona Storm and husband, Ray, and Linda Storm; and his nephew, Scott Strickland.
Charles is survived by his second wife, Suella Stevens; his son, Lonnie Ray and wife, Spring; his stepchildren, Greg Stevens and wife, Lisa, Jeff Stevens and wife, Natalie, Misty Gregg and husband, Jesse, and Melanie McBrayer and husband, Chris; his brother, Jerry Ray and wife, Geraldine; his sister, Mary Pratt and husband, James; his grandchildren, Michael, Brayden, Macey, Annalise, Hartlie, Coy, and Kinsley; his nephew, Mervin Ray and wife, Ivanka; his niece, Marie Morton and husband, Jimmy; and many more nieces and nephews.
