BILLIE LAUDERDALE

A private graveside service for Billie Louise Kretzer Lauderdale was held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Lauderdale died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, after a long life and a brief illness.

Billie was born on Oct. 13, 1934, in Cooks Point to Richard and Rosie Kretzer. She was one of three and the only girl, raised with her two brothers, Charles and Bernard.

She married Cliff Lauderdale on Nov. 3, 1955, and they were married for 43 years.

Billie was a woman of strength and true country grit.

She was an avid and accomplished quilter and founding member and leader of the Cooks Point United Methodist Church (UMC) Creative Memories Quilt Guild.

She was passionate about her community and loved her family deeply.

She was instrumental in starting the Caldwell Christians Care Center, helping hundreds of people throughout Caldwell.

Her two sons, Kenneth and James “Jimmy” Lauderdale were her pride, but her true joy was her grandchildren: Kevin, Jeff, Brad, and Brian, as well as all her great-grandchildren.

Billie was loved and will be missed as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, as well as the best pie baker in at least three counties.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; and brother, Charles and wife, Hulene.

Billie is survived by her sons, Kenneth Lauderdale and wife, Emily, and Jimmy Lauderdale and wife, Teri; brother, Bernard and wife, Joy; nephew, Richard Lauderdale; as well as all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brad and Tanya, Kevin and Crystal, Jeff and Octavia, Brian and Jackie, Lauren, Kileigh, Dominic, Cassidy, Mitchell, Lincoln, Owen, Reyna, and Arthur.

Memorials may be given to the Cooks Point Methodist Church or charity of your choice.
