THEODORE “T.J.” KRENEK

Funeral services for Theodore James Krenek, 79, of Dime Box, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dime Box with Father Joy Adimakkeel officiating.

Burial followed in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Dime Box.

Theodore Krenek was born on November 9, 1941, to Lewis and Vlasta (Valigura) Krenek.

Theodore served in the military from 1964 to 1969.

He began his service with the 90th Artillery Unit and later went on to serve in the 900th Military Intelligence Detachment due to his foreign language ability and a high IQ score.

Before leaving the military, T.J. achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) and Armor M.O.S. prior to being honorably discharged.

T.J. moved to Austin after his military career and went to work with the Texas Water Commission.

His final duty was lead supervisor for the State Print Shop where he served 23 various state agencies.

T.J. retired and came back home to Dime Box to take up the family business of ranching and to take care of his mother.

He was a member of the Round Rock Sportsman Club where he received numerous bass trophies and club awards.

T.J. enjoyed hunting, fishing, repairing older cars, and searching for Indian artifacts.

He was a man of many outdoor interest and talents.

T.J. will be fondly remembered for all the wild hogs he removed from the Lee County area.

T.J. passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his home in Dime Box.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Vlasta (Valigura) Krenek; and his sister, Evelyn Kovar and her husband, Robert Kovar.

T.J. is survived by his three nephews, Michael Kovar and wife, Dawn, of Rockdale, Glenn Kovar and wife, Sarah, of Dime Box, and David Kovar and wife, Lana, of Giddings; eight great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces.

Memorials have been requested to be given to the Dime Box Volunteer Fire Department, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, or to the charity of one’s choice.
