A memorial service for John Lummus, 56, will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 6 p.m. at Burleson County Cowboy Church, 300 County Road 169 in Caldwell.
Mr. Lummus died on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, surrounded by his family, at St. Joseph Hospital in College Station.
John was born May 27, 1965, in Bay City to Bill and Sonia Lummus.
John grew up in West Columbia and graduated from Columbia High School in 1983.
John worked on several jobs. He loved being a truck driver like his uncle, and he enjoyed working with heavy equipment.
John moved to Somerville to help his mother after his dad passed away.
While helping his mother, he also made friends and worked helping others. He mowed lawns, built pads for mobile homes, worked on driveways and making water tanks for people. He would help anyone who was in need.
John loved fishing, NASCAR and drag-racing and his adorable loving cat, Tilly.
Six years ago, John was struck with liver damage and almost died. The Lord saw him through this battle, and John worked on trying to keep going. But this time, the Lord called him home. The battle was over.
John was a member of Burleson County Cowboy Church in Caldwell. He was a devoted Christian.
John was just a big cuddle bear who was dearly loved by many and will be missed by everyone who ever knew him, family members said.
