Funeral services for Danice Hurt, 68, of Milano, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Chris Gardner of Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth and Pastor Daryl Mize of Friendship Baptist Church near Milano officiating.
Burial will follow at Hurt Cemetery near Milano.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at the funeral home.
Danice died Monday night, Oct. 18, 2021, in the CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.
Danice was born on May 17, 1953, in Freeport, Texas, to Dan and Bobbie (Fullen) Lunsford.
On Jan. 28, 1972, she and Virgil Hurt were married in Lake Jackson, Texas.
She worked in the administrative office in the Corp of Engineers for 30 years until her retirement in 2010.
They have lived in Milano since 1985.
Danice was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and loved the Ladies Bible Study group at the church.
She also helped with Tres Dias Group at Milam County Cowboy Church in Rockdale.
She had worked for Place of Hope for several years and was a former member of Milano School Board. She loved everything
She loved everything about her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Danice is survived by her husband, Virgil Hurt of Milano; daughter, Shanna Balderas and husband, J.R. of Milano; sisters, Nancy E. Gardner and husband, Steve, of Huntsville, and Andrea Henson and husband, Newell, of Fedor; four grandchildren, Victoria, Marissa, Miranda, and Isaac; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Tylan Lewis, JR Hurt, Terry Davis, Odis Galbreath, Ty Lewis and Tanner Hurt.
