Mrs. Wotipka died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at the Copperas Hollow Nursing Home.

Lillie was born on October 28, 1929, to John and Carrie Polasek in Caldwell. She was one of two siblings. She earned an eighth-grade education from Cooks Point school in 1944.

Lillie met her future spouse, Alvin Joseph Wotipka, Sr., while working at a local cafe, and they were married in Caldwell on January 27, 1951.

Lillie worked at Keller chair factory for many years.

She loved raising cattle and took care of them with her husband and boys, and then by herself.

She was a gardener as well, growing buckets full of vegetables to feed her family.

She always listened to polka music on Sundays, and attended the Kolache Festival to hear the live bands play polka until she could not make it out to the festival anymore.

She loved talking to friends and would spend hours enjoying conversation with them over the phone.

She was a talented cook and loved having her family over on Sundays to enjoy barbecue – and her covered metal baking pan always made an appearance at the table, holding cakes or brownies, much to the kids’ delight.

Most of all, Lillie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She lived right down the road and frequently took care of her granddaughters, including almost every Saturday night while they were growing up.

Lillie always smiled when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit, and enjoyed their company until the very last days of her life.

She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie Polasek; her husband, Alvin Wotipka, Sr.; her brother, Bennie Polasek; her sons, John Kramer, Alvin Wotipka, Jr., and Ray Wotipka; and her daughters-in-law, Brenda Wotipka and Susan Wotipka.

Lillie is survived by her son, Edward Wotipka and wife, Anna; her daughter-in-law, Grace Kramer; her granddaughters, Crystal Wotipka and husband, Alex Sanchez, and April Crow and husband, John; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Annie Polasek; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
