A memorial service for Cecilia Negrete Baca will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Grace Community Fellowship Church, 107 S. Saeger St. in Brenham.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1943, in Somerville, to Soledad Armenta Negrete and Anastacio Negrete.
Cecilia graduated from Somerville High School in 1962.
She received nurse’s training at St. Joseph’s Hospital and upon completion continued working for the hospital.
In 1967, she returned to Somerville and went to work in a chair and ladder factory in Caldwell.
Years later she met and married the love of her life, John Baca, on April 7, 1979. They have one son, Nathan Baca.
She worked hard and long hours for Continental Carbon, Wallace Computers and retired from R&R Donnelly, a factory in Brenham. She enjoyed each job even though it was hard work.
Cecilia was a feisty tiny lady and a breast cancer survivor. She also survived from having an aortic aneurysm and battled COPD for several years.
She died on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022.
She is survived by one son; three grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
