POLKA MUSIC WAS and dancing enjoyed on Saturday at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Recreation Center in Frenstat. Music was provided by the Czechaholics and the Dujka Brothers.

Hundreds of CJH students participate in ‘Big Event’

Last Friday, about 400 Caldwell Junior High students and staff went out into the Caldwell community to polish silver, clean and weed yards, wash windows and many more odd jobs -- all to give back to the Caldwell community during the school’s annual “Big Event.” Parent volunteers also participated in the event, and together they completed 29 job sites, ranging from private residences, nursing homes, community buildings and local city sites. CJH Science teacher Karlin Wilson, one of the event organizers, said, “Big Event has grown so much in the past eight years.” “Here at Caldwell Junior High, we strive to not only meet the community’s needs but also encourage civic engagement so that these young adults can be advocates of positive change and be more engaged citizens in the town they are growing up in and love.

County hears issues on cemetery

Some Burleson County residents are asking the county commissioners for more time to continue research into the proper boundary lines for Jerusalem Cemetery off State Highway 21 East before allowing a nearby subdivision development to continue.

Another threat probed, this time at CJH

Burleson County sheriff’s deputies are now investigating a second case of a Caldwell student threatening a school shooting, this time at Caldwell Junior High School. Deputies were notified on Wednesday, May 8, that someone had written the threat inside a girls bathroom toilet stall, said Chief Deputy Bill Rios.
