RRC issues no new oil, gas permits in March

The Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) issued no new oil well drilling permits in Burleson County in March.The RRC report is for newly approved permits in the county, not for drill sites which were previously permitted.

Second concert of summer series set for July 11

The Caldwell Main Street’s Summer Concert Series is back for a fifth year in downtown Caldwell on the second Saturday of every month this summer.This year, each concert will have a different theme, with attendees encouraged to dress to match.The July concert will be on July 11 from 8-11 p.m.

Growing conditions split by rain with improved moisture, lingering drought

Growing conditions for summer crops are a mixed bag of results based on rainfall over the past 90 days, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts.While soil moisture conditions have improved for much of the state, too much of a good thing, like rain, can also bring problems.

A Caldwell resident was recently scammed out of $39,500 by an online scheme that seemed believable.In fact, the scammers already had all of his pertinent banking information, making them appear credible while telling him they were protecting him from hackers who could get to his money.

Somerville approves Welch Park sublease

The Somerville City Council has approved renewing its sublease with Welch Park Enterprises Inc., for up to 10 years.However, the sublease, contingent on the city’s lease for Welch Park with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, could be shorter if the Corps’ lease with the city is shorter than 10 years.
