Kevin Wayne Nelson, 61, of the Hix Community, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, doing what he loved the most: fishing with his daddy.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.
Reverend Jimmie Hale will be officiating, and the burial will follow in Macedonia-Hix Cemetery.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kevin was born on August 30, 1964, in Dallas, to parents, Wilford Nelson and Barbara (Touchstone) Nelson.
For most of Kevin’s career he worked in the petroleum industry, mostly for Bearing Supply.
He was a music buff, especially Willie Nelson.
His favorite sports team was the Longhorns.
He loved spending time with family and friends.
Everyone loved his jambalaya and his chili. When he wasn’t working, you could find him fishing or barbecuing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Nelson; and a sister, Michelle Nelson.
Kevin is survived by his daughter and sonin- law, Victoria Clark and husband, Thomas, of Waxahachie; his father, Wilford Nelson of Caldwell; and a brother and sister-in-law, David Nelson and wife, Denise, of Somerville.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice.
