Forrest Anthony Suehs

Forrest Anthony Suehs, age 76, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, in Caldwell, with his loving family by his side.

Born on April 14, 1950, in Bryan, Forrest was the son of William Anthony and Mavis Loucille (Heine) Suehs.

He grew up in Houston, where strong family ties and neighborhood friendships were an important part of his childhood.

At just four years old, he would ride his gocart to his grandfather’s Texaco service station.

By age twelve, Forrest was operating a ham radio under the call sign WA5BSD, using Morse code to connect and communicate with people around the world.

He shared this interest with his Daddy and spent many Friday nights participating in ham radio club activities together.

Forrest loved being on the water and spent many years waterskiing from childhood through adulthood. Some of his fondest memories were made at the lake, enjoying time with family and creating traditions that would be cherished for generations.

Family members often enjoyed hearing the stories of his first traffic ticket, received at age fifteen for driving his mother’s car without a driver’s license and hitchhiking from Texas A&M to his daddy’s fire station in Houston.

After graduating from high school, Forrest attended Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets, Company G-2, Class of 1972, and later served as a commissioned officer.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and went on to build a successful career in the greater Houston area, while also taking on international assignments and professional opportunities in the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, England and China.

Forrest often said that the best thing that ever happened to him was meeting Susan Denson in the summer of 1969. They married in May 1971 and built a life together centered on faith, family and love, sharing 55 years of marriage.

Forrest was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a gentle giant whose steady presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. As the father of three children, he led by example, showing kindness, patience and unconditional love.

He was not one to pick a fight, but his family always knew he would stand beside them when it mattered.

Forrest was never judgmental and believed there was good in everyone. He gave people the benefit of the doubt, never wrote anyone off and treated others with respect and grace. Forrest never had a bad day.

His children will remember him for his gentle spirit, quiet wisdom and unwavering support.

Nothing in Forrest’s life brought him greater joy than his grandchildren. Their Granddaddy treasured every opportunity to attend their livestock shows, rodeos, soccer games, basketball games, baseball games, cheer and football events, school programs, graduations and countless other milestones. Whether cheering from the sidelines, offering words of encouragement or simply being present, he was always their biggest supporter and proudest fan.

His grandchildren knew without question how deeply he loved them, and the time they spent together became some of life’s greatest blessings for them all.

Forrest loved the Lord and faithfully served Him throughout his life. He was a dedicated Christian who held numerous leadership roles within the church.

For 25 years, he served as an Elder at Hidden Valley Church of Christ, providing guidance, wisdom, and encouragement to countless individuals and families.

Following retirement, Forrest and Susan moved to their country home in Caldwell in 2021. There, they enjoyed the blessings of family, friendship and the peaceful life they had built together.

Forrest is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Bradley Suehs and wife, Kristen, and their sons, Cameron (fiancée, Grace Fritcher) and Brycen; Craig Suehs and wife, Carla, and their sons, Corbin and Coulter; and Ashley Bray and husband, Micah, and their daughters, Payton, Presley, and Mallory. He is also survived by his sister, Clarice Key and husband, David; his brother, Derrick Suehs and wife, Audrey; brothers- in-law, Alan Gunderson and Dwayne Collins; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mavis Suehs; his sisters, Beverly Gunderson and Judythe Collins; and his beloved parents-in-law, John and Goldie Denson.
