J.D. ONDRASEK

A Celebration of Life for J.D. Ondrasek, 82, of Caldwell, was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Strickland Funeral Home.

Burial followed at Hranice Cemetery in Dime Box.

Visitation was held from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Ondrasek died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, in Westcliffe, Colo.

J.D. was born on July 26, 1938, in Caldwell to Joe V. Ondrasek and Rosie Marie (Kubena) Ondrasek.

When he was younger, he loved noodling for catfish and hunting.

J.D. was a people person and was known as the beer man from his days as a beer distributor.

He loved polka music, gardening, cook-offs and playing dominoes.

He was a state champion domino player.

He didn’t know how to dance until he met Bernice, the mother of his children and first wife. Then he loved dancing.

His favorite polka artists were Big Joe, Mollie B. and the Vrazels.

He was also a member of the Birch Creek Gun Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe V. Ondrasek and Rosie Ondrasek; his second wife, Dorothy Ondrasek; his son, Daryl Ondrasek; his stepson, Michael Wetzler; his sisters, Josephine Koeppen and Evelyn Zajicek; and his brothers, Benjamin Ondrasek and Franklin Ondrasek.

J.D. is survived by his sons, Joe Ondrasek Jr. and wife, Missy, Stephen Ondrasek and wife, Judy, and Cody Ondrasek; his stepson, James Wetzler and wife, Jennifer; his sister, Rose Autrey; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
