Funeral services for Samuel Prestwood, 66, of Caldwell, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church Gym with Pastor Wayne Calder officiating.
Burial will follow at the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Prestwood died on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Samuel was born on Aug. 10, 1954, in Cleveland, Texas, to Horace and Wilma (Beard) Prestwood.
He worked for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and then the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.
Samuel held many different positions throughout his career. He finished as the Office Administrator of the Walker County Jail. He also was the Rangemaster for the department and trained the new recruits.
Samuel married his loving wife on Feb. 25, 2006.
He was an amazing musician and was a member of the Methodist Praise and Worship Team in which he played drums and sang.
Samuel owned a TV repair and Satellite Installation company in Conroe for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Wilma Prestwood; his brothers, Charles Prestwood, Horace Lee Prestwood, and Roy Lee Prestwood; and his sister, Andy Ewton.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Prestwood; his sons, Samuel L. Prestwood Jr., and wife, Tanya, Bill R. Prestwood and wife, Amy, Melton ”Mel” Prestwood and wife, Diane, Erich R. Loehr and Crystal, and Scott A. Loehr; his daughter, Lisa K. Harrell and husband, Terry; his grandchildren, Kevin Mason, J.R. Pena, Stormy Garrett, Kaitlyn Prestwood, Erik Reed, Madison Harrell, Taylor Harrell, Crystal “Crissy” Lowe and husband, Brian, James Prestwood, Brennan Harrell, Bailey Prestwood, Jackson Prestwood, Peyton Prestwood, Adelie Prestwood, and William Prestwood; and his greatgrandchildren, Wynter Hatfield, Cali Mason, Scarlett Hatfield, Haeley Mason, and Dani Mason.
Pallbearers are Kevin Mason, J.R. Pena, Erik Reed, James Prestwood, and Brennan Harrell.
Memorials may be made to the Caldwell Methodist Musical Ministry, in lieu of flowers.
