Moses lived to be 120 years old, but his life was evenly divided into three sections of 40 years each. It begins with 40 years in the ruling house of Egypt, then 40 years as shepherd of his father-in-law’s flocks in Midian, and finally as the shepherd of God’s flock as they moved from Sinai to the plains of Moab, preparing to enter the Promised Land.
