The Somerville City Council has approved the purchase of a new dump truck and backhoe loader for the public works department, replacing aging equipment.
The council approved those purchases at their Tuesday, Oct. 12, meeting.
The public works department uses two dump trucks and two backhoes. The dump trucks are 31 and 23 years old, while the backhoes are 23 and 13 years old.
