Albert Ludwig Vavra, 76, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 27, 2024, to be with our Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Snook Brethren Church in Snook, Texas.
Burial will follow at New Tabor Community Cemetery, with graveside tribute services and Pastor Joseph Polasek officiating.
Albert Ludwig Vavra was born on July 2,1947, to Ludwig Vavra and Milady Valenta-Vavra in San Leon, Texas. He was the third child of five children.
He graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Texas, in 1967.
Albert enlisted into the Army in 1968. He served in Vietnam 1968-1969, two years in Europe and Army Reserves until he was Honorably Discharged on March 1, 1974, SP5 position.
He graduated from Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, in 1974, with an associates degree in Business.
Albert met his first wife, Roselie Johnson, in Bryan Texas, and were married on April 22, 1972, in Bryan, Texas.
To this union came four children: Kelli Meinholdt, Donna Fajkus, and twins, Carie Oltmann and Cheri Todee.
His second marriage was to Lillian Joyce Rowan on March 3, 1999, in Caldwell, Texas.
When Albert returned from his tour of duty, he was employed by Chappell Hill Construction Company, followed by Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, Texas, as a salesman driver for 32 years, where he retired in 2016.
Albert enjoyed being in the outdoors, doing all kinds of activities: from gardening, fishing, golfing, grilling and his favorite hunting rabbits.
He will be forever remembered for his high energy, fun loving contagious laugh, and definitely his gift of talking.
No one was a stranger and everyone was a friend. He had a heart of gold and will be forever missed and cherished by all.
His childhood family and friends nicknamed him “Grasshopper” because of his fast long legs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig Vavra and Milady Valenta Vavra; sister, Evelyn Jolly; wife, Lillian Joyce Vavra; and son-in-law, Richard Meinholdt; and great-nephew, Weston Adcox.
Albert is survived by his daughter, Kelli Meinholdt; daughter, Donna Fajkus and husband, Nick Fajkus; daughter, Carie Oltmann and husband, Curtis Oltmann; daughter, Cheri Todee and husband, Stephen Todee II; his eight grandchildren, Faith Meinholdt, Emily Vincent and husband, Justin Vincent, Cole Fajkus, Kaleb Oltmann, Shayla Todee, Kassi Oltmann, Jade Fajkus and Kalisa Oltmann; three greatgrandchildren, Emery Vincent, Riley Vincent and Hadley Oltmann; brothers, Leonard Vavra, Benjamin Vavra and wife, Agnes Vavra; and sister, Katherine Buza and husband, Floyd Buza; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Snook Brethren Church.
