Toney leaving Caldwell, accepts job in Franklin

Kyle Toney, Caldwell High School’s varsity baseball coach for the last 10 years, is leaving for an assistant football and softball coaching position in Franklin. Toney said the administration at Caldwell ISD told him before the Easter break that he would not be returning to Caldwell as head baseball coach.

Yegua 4x100 relay finishes sixth in state in Class 2A

In a sport less than a second could mean the difference between first and second place, a 1/2 second meant improvement from regional results to the state championship results for the Yegua 4x100meter relay team. Last Friday, Somerville ran the 4x100 in 43.16 seconds at the UIL Class 2A State Track & Field Meet, improving over the time of 43.87 seconds run at the UIL Class 2A Region 4 Track & Field Meet back in April.

Lady Hornets land 10 on All-District Team

After another undefeated district season and another playoff run, the Lady Hornets had 10 players named to the District 22-4A All-District Softball Team, with pitcher Callie Fletcher named as the District’s MVP. In addition to Fletcher as MVP, Caldwell also had four other superlative spots out of a total of seven possibilities.
