PATRICIA “PATSY” WILLIAMS HEBERT

Patricia “Patsy” June Williams Hebert, 85, was born on June 4, 1940, to Lee and Euda Williams.

She was the baby of eight siblings, born and raised in the small community of Hix, outside of Caldwell.

She went to heaven to reunite with her husband of 60 years, Arnold J. “AJ” Hebert Jr., on August 29, 2025, in Caldwell.

Patsy graduated from Caldwell High School in 1958.

After completing business school in Austin, Patsy met and married the love of her life on May 12, 1961, in Blessing, Texas. Together, Patsy and AJ made their life in Palacios, Texas, where they built and nurtured a thriving farm for the next five decades. Their marriage was one of great love, loyalty, and enduring devotion to each other.

In the early years of establishing A-Bear Farms, you would find Dad on the tractor and Mom headed to the field with a homemade egg salad sandwich, a thermos of fresh hot coffee and something sweet. They would sit on the tailgate and catch up for the day until it was time to get back to work.

Patsy was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios and valued her time worshipping and fellowshipping with her friends and congregation.

A true homemaker and hostess at heart, you could count on Patsy to show up in town with a meal and dessert to support the community or at a friend’s house just because.

Her favorite entertaining endeavor was a spontaneous football watch party to cheer on her beloved Aggies. Her longing for a playoff team was matched only with her high-pitched yelling for them to “run” or “get him.” Her devotion to family, community, and Aggie football was deep.

While Patsy and AJ took extraordinary pride in the success of their farm, they found life’s greatest joy in their two daughters, Vanessa June Rupe and Valerie Anne Hodges.

They chose to raise their girls in Palacios and lived out their commitment to them by being pillars of the community.

Patsy was a regular at the school, volunteering, serving as PTO president, and never missing a game, tournament, or school program. She was a leader in the organizations with which Vanessa and Valerie took part and loved supporting the annual Fourth of July celebrations at the Palacios Bay and the annual fair and livestock show by building and serving hundreds of hamburgers withtheRoundUp4-HClub.

As the family grew, Mama Bear and Papa Bear did not let Army assignments and great distance keep them from their two loves, granddaughters, Grace Anne Hodges and Faith Anne Hodges. Visiting her baby girls was an extraordinary act of devotion as Patsy did not like to fly.

Great Patriots themselves, Patsy and AJ did not miss an opportunity to show up to duty stations all over the country and support Valerie’s husband, Adam, in his military service. Being a part of Adam’s Army career and watching him pilot attack helicopters was one of their greatest joys. Ensuring Adam had her homemade pound cake upon returning from deployments was a welcomed part of Patsy’s own service.

As Patsy and AJ found themselves needing extra assistance, they made the tough decision to sell their farm and purchase the home behind Vanessa and her husband, Jason, in Bay City, Texas. Living so close to each other for a year allowed Patsy and Vanessa time to cook together, play dominoes, and cheer on their sports teams. Patsy became a big Houston Astros fan, often sharing her thoughts on batting averages, starting lineups, and providing running commentary on pitching decisions.

Patsy spent the last five years living with and being cared for by Adam, Valerie, Grace and Faith in their home in Caldwell. She enjoyed being a part of the new farm, watching the grass and flowers take root, and celebrating all the new farm animals they brought home.

One of the best parts of being back in Caldwell was getting to spend time and play 42 with her brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Brenda Williams, and nieces and nephews, Terri Kornegay, Kent and Dawn Kornegay, Kevin and Leda Williams, Derrick and Deidra Williams Stewart, Greg and Lucy Williams, Larry and Carla Eberspacher Butcher, and Bill and Cindy Williams Holder.

Thank you to all who prayed for and cared for our Mom. She fought a good fight and is now walking in heaven reunited with our Dad. Well done faithful servant.
