Donnie Wayne Telg, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 28, 2025, at Avir at Caldwell.
Donnie was born on Sept. 6, 1944, to Ben and Ruby Telg of Caldwell.
He was a lifelong resident of Burleson and Brazos counties, having lived the last 45 years in the Hix community in Burleson County. Donnie attended Chriesman and Caldwell public schools.
He met Carolyn Brimberry, who attended Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church in the Hix community, when they were both teenagers. They fell in love and were married on June 14, 1963.
Donnie operated heavy equipment for R.B. Butler Construction Company in Bryan for 16 years before Jean Prazak; brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Jerry and Marolyn Cotrone; sister-in-law, Gloria Telg; sister-in-law, Beverly Telg; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, of 62 years; their son, Keith Telg; his parents, Ben and Ruby Telg; and brothers, Charles and Leroy Telg.
Pallbearers are Kyle Telg, Jonathan Squier, Mark Telg, Tram Telg, Brandon Telg and Daniel Telg. Honorary pallbearer is Kevin Telg.
Visitation will be at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10 a.m.

A graveside service will follow at the Hix Cemetery.

He was a training specialist and traveled the state, teaching construction workers how to operate bulldozers, motor graders, cranes and backhoes – known to many at TxDOT as a “legend.”
After retiring from the Texas Engineering Extension Service, Donnie started his own heavy equipment company and built several construction projects in Burleson County, including the airstrip in Hix.
Donnie was involved in the Hix community and Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church, where he served in such positions as deacon, treasurer and song director over more than 60 years.
He loved taking care of his cattle, fishing on the Brazos River and hunting.
Donnie is survived by his children, Ricky Telg and Denise Squier; two daughters- in-law, Jodie Telg and Michelle Moore; one sonin- love, Tim Moore; five grandchildren, Brandon Telg, Elizabeth Lopez, Kevin Telg, Jonathan Squier and Kyle Telg; five greatgrandchildren, Elise Telg, Johan Telg, Olive Lopez, Felix Lopez and Nico Lopez; brother, Theo, and sister-inlaw, Janice Telg; brother, Douglas, and sister-in-law, Betty Jo Telg; sister, Betty org/donate.
