Darwin C. Brown, 91, of Lexington, was called home to his Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2019. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 11 a.m. and were held in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Visitation was an hour before the services at the church. Pastor Sandy Brown officiated over services. Burial followed at Hugh Wilson Cemetery. Masonic services were held at the cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Darwin Carroll Brown was born on April 2, 1928, on the family homestead in Lexington, Texas, to parents Liston Carroll Brown and Dora Beatrice (Morgan) Brown. Darwin Brown was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy and received an Honorable Discharge February 4, 1948, as a Sonarman Third Class. He was married on April 5, 1952, to the love of his life, Lillian Gerline Schneider, and from this union they have three loving children. They enjoyed to go dancing and were well know for boot scooting all over Texas. Darwin was a carpenter for many years at Alcoa, but was a rancher and farmer for most of his life. He played an important part in starting the Lee County Wildlife Management Association and was also a Reserve Game Warden for Lee County. Darwin was a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge #138 AF & AM, and received his 65-year pin. He was also a lifetime member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years.
Darwin was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Schneider Brown; both of his parents, Liston and Dora (Morgan) Brown; and his brother, Dale Brown.
Survivors include his son, Darrell Brown and wife, Deborah; two daughters, Charlotte Linnstaedter and husband, Ronnie, and Christine Blodgett and husband, Randy; four grandchildren, James Brown and wife, Megan, Kathrine Cameron and husband, Adam, Stacy Catherine Strobel and husband, Marshal, and Rachel Elizabeth Levert and husband, Michael; and four great-grandchildren, Carter James Cameron, Charley Ella Cameron, Olivia Frances Brown, and Emma Bailey Strobel.
Pallbearers were James Brown, Bob Scouras, Marshal Strobel, Michael Levert, Alton Weiser and Rodney Meyer. Honorary Pallbearers were Douglas Buck, Steve White, Johnnie Alexander, Jim Clampitt, Adam Cameron, and his great-grandson, Carter Cameron.
