Edith Mae Barnett

Funeral services for Edith Mae Barnett, 92, of Caldwell were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell, with Brother Daryl G. Mize officiating.

Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.

Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Barnett died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, in Caldwell.

Edith was born on April 22, 1928, to Jim C. Barnett and Mae (Warren) Barnett in Caldwell.

She loved her family. She was a very skilled artist, and some of her paintings were displayed at the Burleson County Fair where she won many Grand Championships.

She was a very faithful member of the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir, and also sang for the Christmas events.

She graduated from CHS, class of 1949. She was Miss Caldwell, FFA Sweetheart, a Majorette, and played softball. Edith enjoyed sewing and crocheting for the family and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard L. Barnett; her daughter, Carolyn Ann Barnett; her brother, Buddy Barnett; her sisters, Norma Lee Barnett and Pauline Barnett; her sonin-law, Butch Bode; her daughter-in-law, Beverley Barnett; her grandson, Bruce Bode, and her granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Canterberry.

Edith is survived by her sons, Billy Barnett of Caldwell, Curtis Barnett and wife, Ginger, of Caldwell; her daughter, Linda Bode of Bandera; her brother, Donnie Barnett of San Antonio; her sister-in-law, Virginia Barnett of Caldwell; her grandchildren, Sara Balcar and Eddie Castillo, Buster Bode, Michael and Tiffany Canterberry, Matthew “Bubba” Canterberry, Marshall Troy and Jennifer Canterberry, Crystal Lee and Mike Bernstein, and Curtis Lee II and Angel Barnett; and her greatgrandchildren, Emily and Kylee Castillo, Baylee, Bryce, Blaze, and Bray Bode, Jessica, Hunter, Wyatt, Cora Belle, Layla, James, Colton, Luke, Samuel, Jack, Shelby and Wade Canterberry, Garrett Bernstein, and Aubrey Maurer.

Pallbearers were Donnie Telg, Douglas Telg, Richard Laney, Tommy Hruska, Glenn Cochran, and Carmillio Requena.

Honorary pallbearers were Glenn Supak and Joe Millberger.

Memorials may be made to Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church or Traditions Hospice.
