Marion Louise BeanArmstrong went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Marion was born on February 19, 1937, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to the late Marion Hollis Bean and Helen Louise Mears Bean.
Shewasprecededindeath by her loving husband of 68 years, Jerry M.Armstrong, Sr.; and her brothers, Richard Allen Bean and Wayne “Buddy” Bean.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry M. Armstrong, Jr. and wife, Julie, and David A. Armstrong and wife, Terri; her grandchildren, Jessica (and husband, Ryan), Katherine (and husband, Michael), Melanie (and husband, Klint), Dalton, and Marshall; and her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Karter, Weston, and Bruce.
Marion graduated high school from Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1955 and attended Mississippi State College of Women.
On December 22, 1957, she married Jerry M. Armstrong, Sr. and they made their home in Houston, where they raised their family.
Throughout the years, they divided their time between Houston and the family ranch near Dime Box before making the ranch their permanent home in 2005.
Marion was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was caring for her family.
She was known for her hospitality and generous spirit, always welcoming family and friends into her home with a home-cooked meal, smile and servant’s heart.
Marion enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, traveling, shopping, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and gathering with family and friends.
She loved entertaining and had a special gift for making everyone who entered her home feel welcome. She never met a stranger.
She was a longtime member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston where she faithfully served through the Food Service and Sewing Ministries and developed many lifelong friendships.
Marion also volunteered with Boys and Girls Country, Willow River Farms, and served as a Charter Board member of the Pierson Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides monetary support to other nonprofit organizations serving those in need.
She was an active member of the Creative Memories Quilt Guild and a proud member of the “Cut Ups.”
Although she filled many roles throughout her life, her favorite was “Mer.” She treasured every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, supporting them, encouraging them and creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Her family will remember Marion for her unwavering faith and the love she freely gave to everyone around her. Her life was a reflection of the words found in 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Those who knew Marion experienced that love firsthand, and her legacy will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, and a memorial service on Monday,August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., both at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
