Somerville’s Vela flies high as State Champ...again!

Somerville’s Jeremy Vela competed in the Class 2A boys high jump on Friday at the University Interscholastic League’s (UIL) State Track & Field Championships in Austin for the second year in a row. And, for the second year in a row, he brought the high jump title home to the Yegua Nation.

SOMERVILLE HIGH School 2026 valedictorian, Gracie Strange, was recently selected as a Texas Leadership Scholar.Each year, only 250 graduating seniors statewide are selected into the program.

DAKOTA KIENOW closes in on the finish line during a relay at the Koppers Relays back in March. Kienow qualified for the state track meet in the girls triple jump.
