J. C. Dworsky, lovingly known as Jay, laid down his working tools and went to his reward on Saturday, December 23, 2023. His beloved wife and family were at his side.
A public visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas.
Funeral Services honoring his life will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Jay was born on November 4, 1929, to Johnnie Dworsky and Estelle Maddox in Deanville, Texas.
He married Mildred Marie Helmer in 1947; together they had three children.
In 1977, he married Marilyne Hutchins. They lived happily together and in love for forty-six years, three months and twenty-six days.
Jay moved to Houston from Caldwell, Texas, in 1949.
He was hired by his uncle to drive a laundry truck. He worked there for two years and was fired by his uncle for racing another driver in laundry trucks in downtown Houston.
Jay went on to work for National Insurance and Metropolitan Insurance before starting his own Agency in 1967. In 1996, he sold the agency and retired.
Jay was very active in civic organizations and served on several boards such as Westwood Magnolia Parkway Improvement District before his retirement. After retirement he continued on as an Insurance consultant until his passing.
Jay always put God and family first. He was a wonderful Christian husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of great integrity, teaching his children to love God, to respect the law and help those that are less fortunate.
Jay served as a 32nd degree Mason since 1967, past Master of Lindale Park Lodge #1347 in 1997. Jay received the Golden Trowel Reward, the highest honor in the Mason Lodge. He was also a member of Northwest Lodge #1454 and Oakwood Lodge #1444, and a member of Scottish Rite of free Masonry. Jay was a member of Arabia Temple Provost Guard, A flying Fez Arabia Shrine Temple and past member of Tomball Shrine Club. He was a Shriner and spent many hours at the Shriners Burn Institute in Galveston as well as at the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Thornton, dedicating his time with the children.
Jay’s family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and Memorial Herman Hospital, East Tower, fifth floor, The Woodlands for their loving care for Jay, and for the family.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marilyne Hutchins Dworsky; his three children, Linda Dworksy Griffith, David Dworsky and his wife, Peggy, and Steve Dworsky and his wife, Jamie. Jay is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Theresa Jones and her husband, Richard, Jessica Dworsky and her husband, Robert, and Austin Dworsky; much loved great-grandson, Talan May; and sister-inlaw, Ruby Helmer Adamson. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Dawn Konarik Kemp and her husband, Steve, Larry Konarik and his wife, Brenda, as well as and Ron Konarik and his wife, Nit. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews of Marilyne.
