The reigning Class 2A state champion boys high jumper, Somerville’s Jeremy Vela, started off this year’s track season on a high note -- not only winning the gold at the Bluejay Relays last week in the boys high jump, but also breaking the Somerville school record in the event that he set last year at the Class 2A Region 4 track meet.
