Cooks Point and Caldwell volunteer firefighters responded on Friday afternoon, June 26, to a grass fire on County Road 283 that burned about 5 acres but was contained with no structural damage The fire was toned just after noon on Ben Novosad’s property, where the wind caught a controlled brush burn pile and got into the grass, said Cooks Point Fire Chief Larry Odstrcil.
