Snook wins 2 games over rival Somerville

The Snook Bluejays broke into the win column with a pair of victories over county rival Somerville last week -- an 8-7 home win on Friday following a wild 22-16 road win on April 1.Snook, who fell to Milano 20-0 on Monday, April 7, entered this week 2-11 overall and 2-7 in district play.

Caldwell HS girls take 2nd at district golf tourney

The Caldwell Lady Hornets golf team placed second and the boys placed third at the District 22 4A golf tournament on March 31-April 1 at Pecan Lakes in Navasota.The Lady Hornets advanced to the 4A Region III Tournament on April 14-15 at Bearkat Course in Huntsville.

Hornet track makes buzz at district meet

The Lady Hornets finished fourth in the team standings at last week’s District 22-4A Track Meet in Giddings.Caldwell completed the two-day event with a total of 93 points.Host team Giddings won the team title with a score of 208 points.

Snook hosted the District 26-2A Track Meet last week on April 2-3 with Somerville also running.* 100-meter dash: Gabriel McDonald, Somerville, 11.96, fourth.XavierClarkofBremond won this event with a time of 11.52.* 200-meter dash: Gabriel Lacaze, Snook, 24.26, sixth.
On Monday at the District 26-2A Boys Golf Tournament at the Oak Grove Country Club in Franklin, Withem was the individual silver medalist with a score of 90.

Snook falls in two district games against Burton

The Snook Bluejays lost their two-game district series with Burton last week by scores of 19-2 on March 25 at home and 15-0 in a Friday road game. Snook fell to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in district play.In game one, Snook scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning to cut the Panthers’ lead to 3-2.

Despite out-hitting Milano f ive to one and ace pitcher Aubrey Becker throwing a one-hitter, the Lady Jays fell to the Lady Eagles 14-3 last Tuesday, March 25 at home.Braynija Pool, Kalyn Cooper, Marissa Batiste, Kaylie Holden and Becker each had a hit for Snook.

Snook’s Jade Lauderdale placed sixth in the girls 100-meter hurdles at last week’s Swamp Relays at Altair Rice.Lauderdale ran the race in a time of 17.82 seconds.Aubrey Vacek of East Bernard won this event with a time of 16.57.

Somerville wins 4-3 in game 2 with Richards

The Somerville Yeguas defeated Richards 4-3 in game two of their doubleheader last Tuesday, March 25, in Richards.The Yeguas, now 2-71 overall and 1-5 in district play, lost to Richards 11-2 in the first game.
