Lady Yeguas lose to Iola, Burton

The Lady Yeguas lost their last two district games.Last Tuesday, March 25, Somerville was edged out by Iola 7-6.The Lady Yeguas were down 7-0 going into the top of the sixth, where they scored four runs to make it a game again.

Caldwell Junior High flies at Lexington Eagle Relays

The results for Caldwell Junior High at the Lexington Eagle Relays include: 8th-grade Boys * 100-meter dash: Juan Gutierrez, 12.40, fifth.A.J. Johnson of Sealy won this event with a time of 11.95.* 200-meter dash: Stavaughn Morris, 24.74, first.* 400-meter dash: Klein Rhodes, 1:01.

Caldwell softball beats Navasota, falls to Smithville

Caldwell’s Bynn Morton drove in six runs to lead the Lady Hornets past Navasota 15-2 at home last Tuesday night, March 25.She hit a homer to center field in the botton of the fourth inning to score three.Jaelyn Gest also hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth.

UIL to change volleyball playoff structure...again

Many coaches across the state are not fans of the new playoff format that the University Interscholastic League implemented for the current school year for volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball.

Lady Hornets place 2nd at Eagle Relays

The Lady Hornet track team placed second in the varsity girls team standings at last week’s Eagle Relays in Lexington.The girls finished with a total of 112.5 points behind host school Lexington with 131.5 points.Gateway was third with 103 points.

Snook takes second at district golf tourney

The Snook High School golf team placed second at the district meet on Monday, March 31, and qualified for the regional tournament.Snook’s Brett Withem also finished as second overall medalist with a score of 90 behind Bremond’s Ty Ritter, who scored 87.

CHS boys take 2nd, girls 3rd at Navasota

The Caldwell Hornets boys golf team placed second and the girls team placed third on March 24 at the Navasota Tournament at Pecan Lakes Golf Club.The tournament was a district tournament preview with all schools in District 22 4A attending other than Giddings.

Lady Hornets take down Bellville, Navasota in district

The Lady Hornets had a great week last week, blowing by district foes Bellville and Navasota for easy wins.Last Tuesday, Caldwell traveled to Bellville after suffering a 7-1 home loss to the Brahmanettes on March 11, and was able to bounce back for a big 15-3 win in five innings.
