Snook and Somerville junior high athletes competed at last week’s Bluejay Relays in Snook.* 100-meter dash: Isaiah Cloud, Somerville, 12.07, first; Levi Garza, Snook, 12.46, second.* 200-meter dash: Logan Hahn, Snook, 26.76, second; Manuel Lucio, Somerville, 28.16, sixth.

Snook loses three at Brazos Christian Tourney

The Snook Bluejays lost to Rockdale, Mansfield Home School and Brazos Christian last weekend at the Brazos Christian Tournament in Bryan.Snook, 0-5, fell to Rockdale 18-1, to Mansfield 16-0 and to Brazos Christian 10-0.

Hornet track season begins at Robinson

The Caldwell track teams began their season last week at the Robinson Relays.The varsity boys team finished seventh with 22 points.Salado won the team title with 178 points. Little River Academy was second with 118, and Robinson was third with 109.

The Caldwell Hornets went 3-1 at the Cameron Tournament last week to improve to 5-1 for the season.The Hornets defeated Elgin JV 16-0 in the opening game, Madisonville 8-1 in game two, both on Thursday, and lost to Troy 7-3 in game three and then defeated Cameron 12-2 on Saturday.

Lady Hornets go 4-1 at Taylor Tourney

After suffering a 5-3 loss to Victoria West last Tuesday night, Feb. 25, the Lady Hornets rebounded to go 4-1 in the Taylor Tournament last weekend -- going undefeated until Saturday’s game against Holland.Caldwell easily defeated the host squad on Thursday, 18-0 in four and 1/2 innings.

CHS Horse Judging team starts year strong

The Caldwell High School FFA’s Horse Judging team started this year’s season strong, bringing home second place team honors from the San Antonio Livestock Exposition’s (SALE) judging contest on Monday, Feb. 10.

The Snook and Somerville track teams competed in the annual Bluejay Relays in Snook last Thursday.Also competing were Burton, Granger, Allen Academy, Brazos Christian School, Marlin and Milano.

Lady Yeguas open district with walk-off 4-3 win over Iola

Last Tuesday, the Lady Yeguas opened their district season, hosting Iola and beating the Lady Bulldogs in dramatic fashion 4-3.The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, when Kylie Jo Neuendorff singled to score the winning run.
