The Caldwell Hornets boys and girls golf teams placed first at the Lexington Tournament held Feb. 2425 at Copperas Hollow Country Club in Caldwell.The boys won on Feb. 24 with a team score of 342.Caden Schluens placed first with a score of 76, and Kaden Fritsche took second with a 79.

Lady Hornets take sixth at Brenham Tournament

The Caldwell Lady Hornets golf team placed sixth on Feb. 17 at the Brenham Tournament.The Lady Hornets shot a team score of 4356, just behind the Bryan Lady Vikings.Caldwell Head Coach Jacob Schaefer said the girls competed well against 11 other schools, including larger 5A and 6A schools.

Freeman wins gold at Leon Powerlifting Meet

Caldwell’s Luke Freeman won gold in the boys 275-pound weight class at the Leon Boys Last Chance Powerlifting Meet last Wednesday.Freeman took first by lifting a total weight of 1,390 pounds -- 540 pounds in the squat, 300 pounds in the bench press and 550 pounds in the dead lift.

Hornets dominate in 11-3 win over Bartlett

The Caldwell Hornets defeated Bartlett 11-3 on Monday to improve to 2-0.The Hornets built a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning, led 7-2 in the third and 10-2 after five innings.Caldwell finished with 5 hits and 5 errors, and the Bulldogs has 3 hits and 9 errors.

Lady Hornets fall to Franklin

Franklin scored seven runs in the second inning to secure the 13-1 win over Caldwell last Monday in Franklin.Samone Clark was 3-for-3 at the plate with the team’s lone RBI.

Rodriguez, Yen win gold at Anderson powerlifting meet

Snook’s Arian Rodriguez and Tristen Yen won gold in their individual weight classes at last Wednesday’s Anderson-Shiro Boys Meet 3.Rodriguez won the 132pound weight class with a total lift weight of 855 pounds -- 300 pounds in the squat, 190 pounds in the bench press and 365 pounds in the dead lift.

The Somerville Yeguas tied Salado JV White 5-5 in a Monday game in Salado.The tie brought the Yeguas’ record to 0-2-1 after Friday losses to Hempstead 12-3 and Round Top-Carmine 7-3 at the Somerville Tournament.

Snook falls to Normangee, St. Joseph

The Snook Bluejays opened their season at home last week with a 7-1 loss to Normangee on Feb. 18 and an 18-2 loss to St. Joseph on Friday.Against Normangee, the Panthers built a 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added their final run in the top of the third.
