CHS’s Lady Hornet softball field gets new name

Saturday could not have been more perfect of a day for the annual Lady Hornet Alumni Softball Game -- a day that many former Lady Hornets look forward to when they can dust off their gloves and relive their “glory days” at Caldwell High School.

Lady Jays are playoff bound!

With last Tuesday’s 63-49 home win over Iola, the Lady Jays have punched their ticket into the UIL Class 2A Division 1 Girls Basketball Playoffs.This will be the first year UIL has divided the playoff teams into two brackets, and Snook will be in the larger school Division 1 bracket.

The Snook Bluejays struggled with rushed shots and a pressure defense from Bremond in a 48-35 road loss last Friday.The loss dropped Snook to 15-13 for the season and 4-5 in district play.

Navasota surges late, beats Caldwell 66-47

The Caldwell Hornets struggled with Navasota’s speed and athleticism last Friday in a 66-47 home loss.The Hornets, who also lost to Bellville 68-45 on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in Bellville, fell to 11-16 overall and 1-4 in district play.

Lady Jays cage the Lady Eagles 40-29

An 18-point fourth quarter helped the Lady Jays overcome a 24-22 third quarter deficit for a 40-29 road victory in Hearne on Friday.Both teams had a lukewarm first quarter offensively, with the Lady Eagles ending the frame with a 7-4 lead.
