Lady Hornet softball 2025 season begins

Last week, the Lady Hornet softball season officially began with a 3-0 loss to Brenham on Tuesday and going 1-1-3 at the NFCA Texas High School Leadoff Classic.Caldwell hosted one of the tournament sites at Weiss Field.

Lady Jays play at Madisonville Tourney

Snook officially began its softball season at the Madisonville Tournament last week.The Lady Jays opened the tournament against host team Madisonville, falling to the Lady Mustangs 5-1.Kalyn Cooper was 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI to lead the Snook offense.

Lady Yeguas host annual tournament

What began a muddy start for the annual Lady Yegua Softball Tournament, resulting in Thursday’s game line-up to be canceled, ended with Somerville going 2-2 on Friday and Saturday.The Lady Yeguas began the tournament with a huge 13-2 win over BVCHEA.

Somerville Yeguas improve in 46-34 upset of Snook

The Somerville Yeguas tried a new zone defense and cut down on their turnovers in a 46-34 surprise win over county rival Snook last Friday in Snook.The Yeguas, improving to 2-9 in district play, rallied from a 13-12 deficit in the first for a 24-20 halftime lead and a 32-31 third quarter lead.

Somerville’s Ashley Crawford will be staring down offensive linemen this spring as a defensive back for Houston Energy.Crawford, a Yegua graduate, is listed as a 130-pound, 5’ 6” D-back for Houston’s women’s football team in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA).

Hornets surge early, fall to Giddings, Bellville

The Caldwell Hornets had strong early starts last week but were worn down in the second half in a 62-39 road game at Giddings and a 69-49 home loss to Bellville.Caldwell fell to 12-19 overall and 2-7 in district play. Against Giddings, Caldwell led 15-14 in the first but trailed 2923 at halftime.

Lady Yeguas fall to Burton to end season

The Lady Yegaus’ basketball season is over after suffering a 68-9 road loss to Burton last week.Coach Josh Vela said, “We played a decent game defensively, causing them to commit 25 turnovers. But, we committed double the amount of their turnovers which really hurt us.
