Registration open for beef cattle short course

Registration is open for the 71st annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course on Aug. 4-6 in Bryan-College Station. The event is hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Animal Science.

Russells earn American Shorthorn Assoc. titles

The American Shorthorn Association recently announced the 2024-2025 Regional Show award winners.Earning the title of South Central Region Junior Heifer Calf Division Runner-Up was TMF Boardwalk’s Mona Lisa ET owned by John and Barbara Russell of Caldwell, Texas and Eli Sherhouse of Kingwood, Texas.

Citizens State Bank to celebrate 100 years

Citizens State Bank will celebrate its 100th birthday with a daylong block party on Friday, June 6, at the bank at 155 Eighth Street in Somerville.The party begins at 7:30 a.m. and continues to 6 p.m. The events kick off with a breakfast and coffee truck at 7:30 a.m. and a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.

Local Cub Scouts host annual Pinewood Derby

CubScoutPack181held their annual Pinewood Derby andAdvancement Ceremony on Saturday, May 31, at the Caldwell Methodist Church. The group is sponsored by Campbell-Williams VFW Post 4458.The races were divided into individual and parents/ siblings categories.
