Record honey bee losses prompt AgriLife Extension webinar

Texas beekeepers lost 61% of their honey bee colonies -- nearly 60,000 hives over the past year, according to the most recent statewide survey of more than 400 beekeepers.This was one of the steepest declines in beehives ever recorded in Texas, said Garett Slater, Ph.D.

Pork prices reach record highs with holiday demand ahead

Retail pork prices hit record high levels this summer and are expected to remain elevated heading into the holiday season, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts said.In July, average retail pork prices reached the highest point of the year, $5.01 per pound, up from $4.

Budget, tax rate OK’d for Snook

The Snook City Council on Monday, Aug. 25, approved a 25-cent tax rate, the same as last year, and a $1,162,004 budget for 2025-26 and took a hard look at a new water system model that indicates future upgrades will be needed.
