Burleson County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bryan man on a first-degree felony drug charge on Wednesday, April 17, with the assistance of their drug search dog after a traffic stop on State Highway 21.

Deputies probe burglary case

Someone burglarized a home early Saturday, April 20, in the 600 block of Magnolia Drive at Cade Lake and stole two Blue Tooth speakers, an I-Phone charger and some clothing. The owner discovered the burglary when he returned home early that morning and reported it to Burleson County sheriff’s deputies at 5:46 a.m., according to Chief Deputy Bill Rios.

Evading charge dismissed after court ruling

A motion to suppress evidence was granted on Monday, April 15, prior to the trial of Jeffrey James Nail, 35, of Caldwell on a felony evading charge, leading to dismissal of the charges. District Judge Carson Campbell granted the motion by Nail’s attorney Michael Casaretto of Bryan, who argued that the traffic stop by a DPS trooper was not valid because he did not have probable cause.

Man charged in forgery case

A 29-year-old Lyons man remained in Burleson County custody on Tuesday on $15,000 in bonds on a felony forgery charge in connection with six checks cashed in late March totaling $6,200. Ryan Thomas Ramirez was charged with forgery of a financial instrument, $2,500-$30,000 and was arrested on April 3, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.
